Bridgefield Guest House

Picture-postcard Bridgefield Guest House is the iconic landmark at the entrance to Margaret River town, her heritage being the oldest guest house on the Margaret.

Near River walk trails and opposite Margaret River’s Rain Garden, Bridgefield is close to nature yet conveniently located within a few steps of everything in town.  With two inimitably ambient restaurants on site, café and bike hire virtually next door, and boutique brewery and distillery to stroll to, great options just present themselves.

The timeless appeal of Bridgefield’s traditional accommodations is seamlessly combined by tasteful renovations with modern comforts and conveniences.  Each of her eight accommodations, in three buildings, has private bathroom facilities, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, electric blankets, bar refrigerator, and separate tea- and coffee-making facilities for those moments of contemplation.  Complimentary wi-fi is available to send the modern day postcard home.

Bridgefield’s two-storey Gallery building includes three guest accommodations, each richly timber panelled.

The Forest View Suite

Consummate for the couple wishing to experience the impressiveness of the country from the comfort and convenience of town, the Forest View Suite has spacious open living with plentiful period character and dual access French doors to a private balcony terrace with outdoor setting; large bedroom with triple-aspect French doors to the wrap-around verandah with views of the surrounding forest; bathroom with view from its spa bath, with shower, toilet and vanity; and large-windowed kitchen with beautiful local hardwood cabinetry.

The Champagne Room

Atop the imposing Jarrah staircase, the Champagne Room has large queen bedroom with local, crafted hardwood furnishings; indulgent bathroom with spa bath, shower, toilet and vanity; and French doors opening to a balcony verandah in the branches of a Pussy Willow, beyond which the original Guest House and the Karri of the Rain Garden can be seen.

The Merlot Room

At the foot of the staircase, the Merlot’s queen bedroom has, through French doors, an adjoining small covered courtyard, able to be enjoyed in Winter with its own small wood-burning fire.  There is an ensuite shower and toilet and vanity.  Additionally, the Merlot Room has use of the Gallery building’s extensive ‘gentleman’s club’ lounge, and its kitchenette.

The Cabin

A free-standing small building part of the original guest house, is ‘the Cabin’. It is a cosy cabin with double bed and sofa, with small ensuite with shower and toilet and vanity; kitchenette with dining nook; and its own wooden deck on which to relax, perhaps with a meal or a good book.

Courtyard Queen Rooms

Three of the four queen rooms in the original guest house have their own covered courtyard in which to engage in some private contemplation in fresh air, perhaps before joining travelling companions or embarking on a wine tour.  Big brass beds and ceiling fans, and original Jarrah floorboards and dadoes, are reminiscent of the gentler and graceful age of Bridgefield and her escape from the rigours of modernity.

In the original guest house, the guest lounge offers opportunity to meet fellow travellers, perhaps over a classy Margaret River red in the cosy warmth of a Winter log fire, and with the parliamentary privilege of doing so from an original circa 1904 backbench from the upper house of the Western Australian parliament.  Alternatively, in the lounge, DVDs are available to borrow without charge.

The beautiful enclosed colonial verandahs, emblematic gazebo, and deck of the original guest house, are able to be fully appreciated at evening dining, as friendly hosts of on-site restaurant, La Scarpetta, welcome you to enjoy with them the end of a well spent Margaret River day, with great food in charming surrounds.

Original Margaret River’s unique character and charm, Bridgefield Guest House, looks forward to making your sojourn in this extraordinary Region even more memorable.  You will be warmly welcomed at Margaret Riverside Accommodation’s reception, which is located just across the street, at Adamsons Riverside Accommodation.
